South Dakota’s bicycle tour RASDak (Ride Across South Dakota) is celebrating its 12th tour by giving bicyclists the opportunity to ride the majestic South Dakota Black Hills and Badlands.
 
On May 31, 2025, cyclists from all over the US and beyond will gather at Hermosa School in Custer County, SD. The 328 mile loop journey will have overnight stops at Hill City, June 1; Hot Springs, June 2; Red Cloud Indian School, June 3; Martin, June 4; and the Badlands, June 5. The ride returns to Hermosa School on June 6.  

Registration for RASDak is limited, and full-week and single-day riders are welcome. Registered riders receive on-route support and camping accommodations. Food and rest stops are provided along the way, usually by local groups as fundraisers. Registration and full route information is available at rasdak.com.

Rasdak is a nonprofit dedicated to bringing in tourism South Dakota. It is in its 12 year. All proceeds are donated to worthy community projects within the state.

8th Annual Run with the Govs - Pierre

The Run with the Govs route features bronze statues of 31 former governors. Race through to see the highlights or stroll along the route to enjoy the artistry and stories of the state's legendary leaders.

This year's featured leader is the 8th Governor of South Dakota, Frank M. Byrne, who served as Governor from 1913-1917. In 2025, the SD Legislature is celebrating its 100th session. Byrne was elected to the first State Senate in 1889! Run with the Govs walking participants are encouraged to take a breather during the last mile of the race at Governor Byrne's statue, which stands on Broadway Avenue in front of the Becker-Hansen Building.

The race starts and finishes at the front steps of the beautiful State Capitol building. Participants of all ages are welcome, including kids in strollers, and dogs on leashes. All registered runners/walkers are guaranteed a t-shirt if registered by June 2nd. Awards will be given for the overall male and female winners and top male and female, ages 12 and under.

Race registration fees and additional donations will be contributed to The Trail of Governors Foundation.

Plan to participate in the 8th Annual Run with the Govs Saturday, June 14, 2025 on a 3.5-mile trail that winds through the heart of South Dakota's capital city.

Honoring at the Canton Asylum for Insane Indians site - Canton

All are invited to join in honoring the 127 Native Americans from 53 tribal nations who are buried at the asylum cemetery (currently the Hiawatha Golf Course in Canton, SD).

Hosted by the Keepers of the Canton Native Asylum Story. The Keepers are focused on education, reconciliation and restoration related to the Hiawatha Indian Insane Asylum in Canton, South Dakota (1902-1933).
